Wayne Croswell Elected to TIA Secretary Position
Bowie, MD – (July 10, 2007) The Tire Industry Association (TIA) today announced that Wayne Croswell, president of software supplier ASA Tire Systems, Nashua, New Hampshire, has been elected to the position of Secretary. The election took place on Friday, June 29th, during the TIA Board of Directors meeting held in Toronto, Canada. Mr. Croswell begins his position as Secretary on October 29, 2007. The Secretary position proceeds through the officers’ chairs that place Croswell in line for the one-year Presidential term from November 2009 through October 2010.
“We are very pleased to have Wayne fill the position of Secretary,” said TIA President Paul Hyatt. “Wayne has demonstrated his leadership abilities as a TIA Board member on numerous occasions. I believe TIA and the industry will benefit from Wayne’s experience and commitment to the growth of the tire industry.”
Mr. Croswell is a Massachusetts native who first became involved in the tire industry 20 years ago with ASA Tire System’s acquisition of ASCO, a software supplier to the Independent Tire Dealer. He has been with ASA Tire Systems for 30 years where he started his career immediately following earning his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the Carroll School of Management at Boston College. He began as programmer and advanced through the ranks to become Vice President of Operations in 1987. He then moved to Seattle, Washington, to become Regional Vice President, and General Manager, of ASA Tire Systems with the acquisition of Computers Northwest. In early 1993, Wayne moved back to New England to become the General Manager of ASA Tire Systems. He became President of ASA Tire Systems in August of 1996 and ASA International Ltd. Corporate Group Vice President in April of 2002.
Croswell is a past member of National Tire Dealers and Retreaders Association (NTDRA) and the Tire Association of North America (TANA) where he served on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee. Croswell currently serves as Chair of TIA’s Member Services and Benefits Committee and also serves on the Public Relations and Marketing Committee, Strategic Planning and Bylaws Committee, and on the State Association Executives Council.
"I am very excited to take on this new position with TIA," said Croswell. "I greatly appreciate the support and confidence the TIA Board of Directors has placed in me and with my added responsibilities, I look forward to giving back even more to the industry that I have dedicated the majority of my professional career to."
About TIA
TIA is an international association representing all segments of the tire industry, including those that manufacture, repair, recycle, sell, service or use new or retreaded tires, and also those suppliers or individuals who furnish equipment, material or services to the industry. The Tire Industry Association (TIA) has a history that spans more than 80 years and includes several name changes. Originally known as the National Tire Dealers & Retreaders Association (NTDRA), the organization gave birth over the years to the American Retreaders Association (ARA) and the Tire Association of North America (TANA). ARA changed its name to the International Tire & Rubber Association (ITRA) and merged with TANA in 2002 to form the current Tire Industry Association (TIA), which now represents every interest in the tire industry.
